Supporting women on their journey into motherhood

About

Meaghan Ansell

If you had asked me five years ago what I would be doing with my life, the word Doula wouldn’t have crossed my mind. Cut to present day, and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, I left my hometown fourteen years ago in search of adventure, landing in Sydney. Like many before me, I fell in love with Australia, and never left. After marrying an Aussie, and now having two little bubs of my own, my journey into motherhood has been one which has become interwoven with my journey in becoming a Doula. After working in jobs over the years that never served a purpose for me other than paying the bills, my soul craved something more. And it was after a conversation late one night with a friend, that my path to becoming a Doula had been lit.

I have a certification with the Australian Doula College as a birth and postnatal doula, as well as a membership with the Doula Network Australia.

I am incredibly passionate about birth and supporting new mums in such a special time in their lives. I believe that the kind of support that a woman receives during her labour truly has the power the shape the outcome and overall experience.

Most recently, I have teamed up with prenatal yoga teacher Laural Furze to create the Birth Mama Yoga program, a course designed to empower women in their birthing journey through yoga and birth education. Offered as both an in-person and online course, it is accessible to all women throughout the globe looking for that extra bit of support in their birthing journey.

Every woman deserves to have the birth she so desires, and it is my solemn promise to ‘hold space’ for the birthing mother, and help her to feel as empowered and educated as she possibly can as she enters into the realm of motherhood.
